The Friends of Turkey Run and Shades State Parks are assisting Indiana Dept. of Natural Resources with renovations at the historic Lusk home that was completed in 1841.
Their latest project is the window shutters. Some can be repaired but many will need to be replaced. These shutters are operational. They close over the windows and the louvers open and close. (for privacy and so that John Lusk could point his gun out and chase off individuals wanting to cut his beloved trees)
The Friends are looking for a woodworker who can build new shutters that are accurate reproductions of the old ones. Modern tools and methods can be used. The final product is what matters.
The Friends are a not-for-profit organization just like CIWW but have some funds available for the project. In my opinion, but not speaking for the Friends, the ideal situation would be for someone who could donate their time and have expenses compensated. If not, compensation for time is a possibility.
