Pen kit bushings
Author Last Post
Thanks Jim. That may be the most accurate way to do it if I can’t find the specific bushings. I put a message out on penturners.org also. Someone sent me a link for a company across the pond. Unfortunately it would be another 30 British pounds beyond the cost of the bushings. I’ll let you know.
Thanks

Hi Tony,

I have a metal lathe.  I can make the bushings if you can't find them.

Jim Chrena

So I think your best option may be to order either the Gatsby bushings I posted earlier or if you have Mesa bushings they are also .470. I got tons of Mesa bushings if you want those and plenty of suppliers sell them.

i cannot find any .511 bushings. I think your best option there is to order Upgraded Jr Gentleman bushings from The Woodturning Store. The middle sized bushing is .503 which should be close enough. You’d need to order 2 sets but they’re only $2.99 each. Link below.

Hope it turns out well for you ✌️

The .470 bushings can be ordered from Amazon at the link below. The Gatsby bushings are the same. 27/64 is not used much for pens anymore but let me look around a little more and can probably find the .511 or something very close.

I just did a quick google after looking at the kits from Exotic.  They appear to be a modification off of the PSI Football kit. I  -think- the tolerances of the middle bushing (which would be the two from exotic's kit) are -close- ...(Look at -this- kit for the bushings.

If Ed & Dawn aren't responding from Racine, then you might want to get Ryan & Pat a holler at Woodturningz. (They're in Noblesville if you weren't aware)  From what I can tell, most of these specialize kits come from a small number of factories and are pretty much using interchangeable parts --especially bushings (why recreate the wheel when the hub caps are all that get changed?)

Just trying to be a help...

Chris

Thanks for the information. Those bushings are not the correct ones. The set needed is a four bushing set of different sizes. I may be interested in seeing the acrylic blanks you make. Do you have a website or photos?

Thank you

Hello Tony,

Im not 100% this is the bushing you need but at penn state industries they have bushings for soccer pen kits.

I added a link to it.

Also if you ever need some acrylic pen blanks let me know if make my own.

Happy turning!

James Spray

I have purchased a Cyclist pen kit to make for my stepfather. That kit was hard to find. The problem is that no other vender that I have looked at has the required bushings for it. I bought it from Exotic Blanks and they are not returning my emails. Does anyone have the bushings that I can buy or borrow? They are EKB-3004bu for cyclist/soccer pen kits.

Thanks

Tony Keaton
