Safe or not

That’s what I thought, not a great idea. I am on the east side almost to Lawrence. I’ll contact Patrick Meyers and see if he’ll let stop by and run it through his drum sander.

What dimensions we talking here?  And how out-of-flat?
I’d be tempted to use a hand plane and a thickness sander.  If you’re west side, you can use my sander.

I’d be worried that the cross grain piece will chip out if you run it through a planer.  The long grain piece will be fine but the cross grain will not.
Safer to do with a sander, a router on a flattening sled or with a hand plane.

I have a cross shaped piece that I need flattened but all I have is a planer. I checked it and it will fit but I am not sure if it is fairly safe to run it through so I thought I would ask the experts here. What do you think?
