woodworm solution

Anyone had success taking care of woodworm?

Adam Horbett
For lumber, saturation with a borax / water solution worked for me with some old reclaimed barnwood.

Woodworm meaning powder post beetle?  In my experience, once you notice them, they are everywhere. It can be dangerous in a house or building as I can get into the structure. You might need to consider burning it all.

I bought ash during the emerald ash borer plague of 10-15 years ago.  I used rubbing alcohol poured liberally into any small holes in the boards; and cut those parts out if it didn't ruin a vital part of the board's use.  No further pest problems occurred, and the bench still sits in my shop, undamaged.

Emerald ash borer did not live deep in the lumber I recall.  Not sure what wormwood is, other than an ingredient in some liquor. PowerPoint beetles are hardy, you TTYL boric acid.

For small pieces of lumber place in oven and heat to above 150 degrees for about an hour.  Cooks the little buggers.

I need to stop posting while on the cell phone.  But- the idea of powerpoint beetles has a certain ring to it!  (Powerder post beetles, I meant.)  And I have no idea what TTYL means.  To add to the oven idea- you could also put them in the microwave for a short time, best done when wife is not around.

Hell,

Just so you know, FYI, TTYL simply means " talk to you late"

Some worms can be killed by placing the wood in a hot oven.   Don’t know required temps.
